FieldShift for Jira Cloud · Coming soon to the Atlassian Marketplace
Change a custom field's type in a few clicks
Jira Cloud can't change a field's type after you create it. Maybe your "Team" field was a single-choice dropdown and now tickets need several teams, or a text field everyone typed into should really be a dropdown or a number. The usual fix is a new field, a CSV export and a careful re-import, which can take hours.
FieldShift does the whole move for you, safely, in minutes.
How it works
- In Jira, go to Settings → Apps → FieldShift.
- Pick the field you want to change and the type you want it to be.
- Click Preview. You see how values will look on your real issues, and any that can't be converted. Nothing changes yet.
- Click Convert. FieldShift creates the new field, puts it on the same screens as the old one, and copies every value in the background.
- Check a few issues, then remove the old field from your screens when you're ready.

Safe by design
- Your old field and its values are never changed or deleted.
- Values that can't be converted, like text that isn't a number, are skipped and listed with their issue key.
- Only Jira administrators can run it, and you can stop a conversion at any time.
- Runs on Atlassian: no data ever leaves your Jira site, and no personal data is stored.
